Our Programs and Services

Pinecone is best known for writing. That is our flagship program and where most families start. But we also offer full programs in grammar, reading, math, middle school essay prep, and a beginning AI workshop for 3rd and 4th graders. Every program is available on its own or in combination, and every program is ability-based, not grade-based.

Here is what we do and how the pieces work together.

How our programs work together

Most Pinecone families start with one program in elementary school, usually writing, reading, or math. As the student grows, other programs join their weekly schedule. By high school, a typical Pinecone student might be doing writing plus a grammar tune-up plus college essay prep, or writing plus math plus Adventures in AI.

When one instructor and one center know your child for years, everything they learn compounds. The writing instructor knows what the reading tutor is working on. The math session builds on the same disciplined thinking habits developed in writing. Nothing is siloed.

Who Pinecone is for

Pinecone works best for families who:

  • Want a long-term relationship with a tutor, not a short-term boost
  • Have a student between age 3 and 8th grade
  • Value individualized instruction over standardized curriculum
  • Are willing to commit to twice-weekly in-person or online sessions
  • Understand that real progress takes months, not weeks

We are not the right fit for families looking for:

  • One-off homework help
  • Test-prep cramming without underlying skill work
  • A place that promises a specific grade improvement in a specific time frame

Where we are and how sessions work

Pinecone is at 2921 The Villages Parkway in San Jose, inside the plaza. In-person sessions run twice weekly. We also offer online sessions for families outside the immediate area, at an additional $20 per month.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Closed weekends.

Areas we serve

Our biggest concentration of students lives inside a fifteen minute drive of the plaza. See the neighborhood pages for local school lists, driving directions, and answers to questions specific to your area.
