Pinecone Active Learning is a children’s writing tutor based at 2921 The Villages Parkway, inside the plaza in the Evergreen area of San Jose. Most of our families come from within about a 15 minute drive. Below are the neighborhoods we know best and where we have current students.

Serving families near Santa Teresa High, Bernal Middle, and the Santa Teresa Park area. About 15 minutes by car, or fully online if driving is not practical.

Where Pinecone began
Serving families across the broader Aborn corridor. Pinecone originally opened in 2008 at Silver Creek Sportsplex before moving to our current Villages Parkway home.

Twice-weekly in-person tutoring only works if the drive is short enough that a busy parent can actually commit to it for years. That is the real reason we talk about neighborhoods explicitly. The families that stay with us the longest are the ones for whom Pinecone is a five to fifteen minute drive from home or school pickup.
For families outside that immediate radius, we offer one-on-one online sessions at an additional $20 per month above in-person tuition. Some of our longest-tenured families have done a mix of both over the years, especially during rainy months or when a student’s schedule gets tight.

Pinecone is inside The Villages plaza at 2921 The Villages Parkway, San Jose CA 95135. The plaza is off Aborn Road on the east side of San Jose, tucked into the entrance area of The Villages community. Parking is free and easy.
